Sun Salutations are the foundation of a Vinyasa yoga class, building heat and strength in the body and presence and focus in the mind. They improve hip, hamstring and shoulder flexibility while promoting stability in these joints and strengthening the abdominals. It is considered a moving meditation, helping to calm and steady the mind while infusing it with vigor and energy. As part of a flow class, these poses often get rushed, thus reducing their efficacy and creating more possibility for injury. Whether you're brand new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, this six-week workshop will take an in depth look at each pose in a Sun Salutation. Each week we'll refine alignment, provide individual modifications, variations and learn more about the energetics of each pose so that you can move through your favorite vinyasa classes with ease and confidence. Vinyasa means "to place in a special way", in other words to move mindfully, and after this workshop you will feel connected with each and every Sun Salutation in your new or continued yoga practice.

Pilates Tower and Pilates Chair Work Series

6 week workshop learning some of the exercises on the Pilates Tower (or Trapeze Table) and the Pilates Chair. Chinami Stern will be teaching this workshop, beginning on Monday August 21 at 9 AM. The course will be 6 sessions, with Sept 4, Labor Day, being an off day and ending on Sept 25.
